the newest Issue of Aurantium Awaits!

I have always been profoundly interested in fashion, and I couldn’t help but allow that sensibility to surface in my first issue. I find myself drawn to fashion as a sort of visual language that curates human desire, memory, and aspiration. Philosophy does just the same. As Vogue has famously asserted, “[Fashion] is about dreaming and making other people dream,” which was a principle that has guided both the conceptual and aesthetic direction of this issue. Accordingly, the cover and overall design are loosely inspired by Vogue’s October 23, 1909 issue, Corset and Lingerie. Through the romantic typography and intimate attention to form, my team and I sought to reimagine [art] as an intellectual and imaginative practice. For me, philosophy provides the critical vocabulary through which art can become far more than a purely aesthetic pleasure.
