Aurantium is Syracuse University’s Official Student-Led Undergraduate Philosophy Journal. It is run through the Philosophy Department and connected to the Philosophy Club, and our goal is to increase engagement in philosophical discourse within the Syracuse community and beyond.

We release new issues each semester with the Fall “Edition Σ” publications only open to Syracuse University (and ESF) student submissions and the Spring semester “Edition Φbeing open to anyone.

Aurantium is Latin for the word “Orange,” a name that was chosen to represent our Syracuse pride. Although the term is technically anachronistic, it is what shows up when you google “Orange in Latin,” so it is good enough for us!

The Aurantium Team thanks you for your interest in our publication!

What is Aurantium?

Our logo was created by Industrial & Interaction Design student, Will Shick (‘24). It is the Greek letter phi (the symbol of philosophy) stylized as an orange.
